cigarette 27.02.2024

Have a cigarette with me
Sit next to me
We don't even have to talk.

Sit next to me,
And finish your cigarette,
flick it out with just a tiny bit left.

"Have a glass of water after you eat, grandpa,
Can you make me your Sambal again?"
Onions sliced up so perfectly,
And add a sprinkle of coconut oil, when we couldn't afford lemon.
I grew up preferring it that way, till mom told me not to tell anyone we've made Sambal like that

"Food always tasted better when you made them. Especially when you feed them to me. With you hands. I feel so safe."

Have a cigarette with me grandpa
Sit next to me
We don't even have to talk.

Sit next to me,
Finish your cigarette,
And flick it out with just a tiny bit left.

So when you walk away,
Me and my brother can run to grab it from the garden like we did 20 years ago.

Sit next to me,
When I see you again,
Finish your cigarette,
Even though I have so much to tell you,
We don't even have to talk
When you are done with your cigarette
Don't flick it out this time
Just hand it to me to finish
I don't even smoke often these days
But I do on special occasions,
Especially when I'm catching up with old friends.

Baby Sparky.
